Crassula ovata Obliqua variegata
Place ideally in partial shade or a sunny position.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
This plant is more sensitive to light than other related succulents. It changes colour beautifully in direct sunlight, but care should be taken not to burn the leaves in spring.
Crassula ovata Obliqua variegata, sometimes called just Crassula Obliqua variegata, is a variegated succulent plant that differs from the classic Crassula ovata not only in the colour of its leaves, but also in their shape and growth. It is, however, a variegated cultivar of Obliqua, which is a horticultural cultivar of Crassula ovata.
The leaves of Obliqua variegata are noticeably more curved and end in a distinct tip. Its leaves are variegated. The base colour is green, with white and pink stripes. The pink colouring appears on the edges of the leaves when the plant receives sufficient sunlight. It is more sensitive to sunlight than its relatives, and mild leaf burns may appear if handled carelessly. The plant forms a succulent tree growing up to 30 cm tall and its branches droop very quickly.
Unlike the classical fat tree, which flowers quite readily, Obliqua variegata does not normally produce flowers.
It grows more slowly than the classic Crassula ovata and can therefore be fertilised lightly with cactus and succulent fertiliser. Crassula ovata Obliqua variegata is an attractive cultivar with variegated leaves.
