TIP for you:

This is a form of Crassula muscosa, which is characterised by its robustness. It is a tougher, stronger and more robust shrub than the original form.

Crassula muscosa var. polpodacea is sometimes called Crassula muscosa var. sinuata. The epithet sinuata - lead, refers to the occasional greyish colouring of the leaves. The plant resembles Crassula Imperialis (nicknamed as Giant Watch Chain). In the wild it grows in the Eastern Cape, commonly among dense bushes in river valleys.

The sharply pointed leaves commonly turn a yellowish green, occasionally a light green. Old, dried leaves rarely fall off and remain on the stem. The stem is usually stiff and woody, with only minimal internodes between the leaves. The stems grow 30-50 cm long and branch only sparsely. They grow upright, but can also become semi-lying.

Small, bowl-shaped flowers bloom from December to June. They turn light yellow-green to brown in colour.

For healthier growth, it is advisable to make a rejuvenating cut. This hardy fat plant is an unpretentious plant with an unobtrusive, but very attractive appearance on close inspection. It is easy to care for and impresses with its delicate flowers.
