Crassula muscosa ssp. parvula, a subspecies of the genus Crassula muscosa, bears the name parvula. It means tiny, and this name corresponds to the character of this plant. It was formerly known as Crassula lycopoides ssp. parvula. It grows in an area called Kouga Dam in South Africa.
This succulent plant has tiny green leaves that grow densely stacked side by side. The size of the leaves is in the order of tenths of a millimetre. Its stems are tinged with red. This jade plant can be described as being active in branching, producing dense clumps reaching up to 10 cm in height. In the wild, however, it can grow up to 15 cm tall.
The flowers of this plant are inconspicuous and miniature. They are usually only noticed after flowering, when they dry and turn a rusty shade. It flowers in late summer.
It can be easily shaped by cutting as required. Its dwarf size makes this plant suitable for the windowsill of an apartment. In addition, it does not need full sun, making it an ideal choice for those who are short on space and looking for an unpretentious and charming plant.
