Did you know?

The plant is characterised by its distinctive tri-coloured leaves. It is particularly striking with its pink edges on the leaves.

Crassula marginalis variegata, also known as Crassula pellucida subsp. marginalis variegata, is a succulent plant with attractive leaf similarities that have earned it the nickname Calico Kitten, referring to the cat with the tri-coloured fur. Other names include Crassula Calico Kitten, Crassula Isabella and Crassula pellucida subsp. marginalis Isabella. This is a form of Crassula pellucida subsp. marginalis native to South Africa, which gained its popularity for its colourful foliage.

These fleshy leaves turn grey-green with creamy white or yellow stripes along the edges, and turn bright pink and red in plenty of sun. The leaves are arranged in alternate pairs and are heart-shaped. In dry conditions, the leaves dry out and the gaps between the leaves become unintentionally longer in lack of light. This one is profusely branched with smooth, slender, semi-flexed stems. In winter it forms a large number of aerial roots. Its fragile stems grow up to 50 cm long.

The plant's star-shaped flowers are white, often with a pink tinge. They appear in late spring to early summer and intermittently throughout the year.

Crassula marginalis variegata is an ideal plant for hanging containers. Its attractive colouring makes it an eye-catcher. It shines with its pink colour and underlines its dominance.
