Crassula lanuginosa var. lanuginosa
It prefers sunny conditions, but can also live in partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate down to -3 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
Recommended for brightening up the undergrowth with a silver tinge to the leaves.
Crassula lanuginosa var. lanuginosa, originally known as Crassula strigosa, is a succulent plant native to the Eastern Cape Province, with its main occurrence around Graaff-Reinet. This plant is characterised by its grey-green hairy leaves that grow inflated close together. They are 2-7 mm long and 1-3 mm wide. Its thin stems form dense ground clumps up to 5 cm tall.
It produces white to cream-coloured flowers. These grow sessile or nearly sessile and appear in winter and early summer. I recommend removing old flowers to maintain aesthetics. Crassula lanuginosa var. lanuginosa has the ability to change leaf colour depending on the intensity of light and the amount of watering.
This succulent is great as an underplant to complement other plants and add decorative elements to the collection.
