Crassula Jade Tower
The plant likes a sunny habitat.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The succulent is covered with tiny white scales on the surface. These give it the appearance of being covered in a waxy layer.
Crassula Jade Tower is a 1955 creation of American succulent grower Myron Kimnach. It was created by crossing Crassula falcata and Crassula marnieriana and has become a popular choice of succulent lovers.
This succulent beauty boasts dark green leaves with tiny dark spots. The edges of the leaves turn reddish-purple in the sun. The surface of the leaves is decorated with tiny white scales, giving the plant a leathery appearance. The sturdy and upright stems sometimes divide spontaneously near the top, giving the appearance of a tower (hence the name Jade Tower).
It grows up to 20 cm tall and in the winter is adorned with small flowers in white and pink shades, which appear in dense clusters at the top of the stems.
The succulent does not require fertiliser, but I recommend repotting it in a new substrate once in a while. Faster branching can be encouraged by cutting the tops of the stems. It is particularly striking for its fragility and miniature details, especially the white scales.
