The plant likes a sunny habitat.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It can tolerate temperatures down to -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

The green leaves grow in rosettes at the ends of the twigs, which turn a contrasting red colour. The stems can be trimmed to shape the succulent for denser growth.

Crassula globularioides ssp. globularioides, commonly called Crassula globularioides, is also known as Crassula liebuschiana. It grows on exposed rocky slopes and rock outcrops in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and northern Mozambique at altitudes of around 1 200 - 3 100 m above sea level.

The bright green leaves are finely spotted and sometimes reddish to red. Plump leaves are up to 35 mm long and 20 mm wide. The plant has a red branched and prostrate stem, and becomes woody over time. The short branches are upright and the leaves grow in compact rosettes at the ends. The plant is a small dwarf shrub, usually growing up to 20 cm tall.

It flowers with white flowers which are short-stalked.

Crassula globularioides grows quite quickly and I do not recommend fertilising it. It can be shaped by cutting to thicken the shrub. It is particularly striking with its red stems, which contrast attractively with the green leaves.
