Crassula Garnet Lotus
Ideally placed in a sunny location, can tolerate partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
The plant is not hardy, but can withstand -3.9 °C in the short term.
This is a relative novelty in the world of succulents. The cultivar was only bred in 2013.
Crassula Garnet Lotus is a hybrid succulent created by crossing Crassula alba var. parvisepala and Crassula perfoliata var. minor. This unique cultivar was created by Steve Super only in 2013.
The uniqueness of this plant lies in its leaves. The densely arranged leaves form a perfect rosette, resembling a lotus in bloom. They grow upright and hold their shape firmly. The deep purple to garnet colour is often tinged with bluish shades of grey. The leaves have a fine coating that gives them a frosty appearance. The rosettes can reach up to 15 cm in diameter and the plant can grow up to 30 cm tall.
It occasionally produces red flowers in large clusters. They grow arranged on a sturdy stem that can reach up to 12.5 cm in length. The flowers tend to be very attractive but are rather rare.
They can be lightly fertilised at our discretion. If there is excessive moisture, rust spots may appear on the leaves, so it is important to water only when the substrate is completely dry. The unusual Crassula Garnet Lotus impresses with the detail and colour of its leaves, and its overall lotus-like appearance makes it very popular with succulent growers.
