Did you know?

The plant was created and named in 1981 by Rogers Weld for Fernwood Nursery in California.

Crassula Fernwood is a succulent hybrid created by crossing Crassula namaquensis subsp. comptonii and Crassula susannae. Rogers Weld of Fernwood Nursery in California named it in 1981.

It has light grey-green leaves with many whitish papillae and a purple tinge that intensifies in light and dry conditions. The leaves tend to be small, thick, fleshy, triangular in shape and slightly concave. The rosettes of the plant readily form lateral offshoots, forming small clumps. The whole clump grows permanently low to the ground.

The flowers open from yellow buds but gradually turn white. They grow arranged on slender reddish-purple stems. When grown in dry conditions, the inflorescence may be directly on the rosette (sessile) or just above it.

Crassula Fernwood is a succulent miniature that is characterised by its winter and spring growth. The succulent does not need any fertilizing. However, it is a delight with its atypical shapes and colouring of the leaves, which grow primordially on a short stem, and its delicate papillae. It is a miniature ground succulent that fits practically anywhere.
