Crassula Estagnol
The plant likes sunny habitat and partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
Estagol is named after L'Estagnol in France, where the plant was bred by Miss Gaudon in a cactus nursery.
Crassula Estagnol, also known as Crassula Spiralis, is a fascinating hybrid created by crossing Crassula pyramidalis with another, but unknown Crassula. This hybrid was created by Miss Gaudon at the cactus nursery at L'Estagnol in Antibes, France, which gave the plant its name.
Its lush green leaves are slightly hairy at the edges, giving the plant an overall delicate appearance. The relatively stiff leaves are vane-shaped, and spiral around a central stem. The rosettes reach a diameter of about two centimetres and form low, compact shrubs that can grow to a height of about 20 cm.
This Crassula branches profusely. It does not flower much, but if it does flower once in a while, a cluster of small white flowers will appear. Overall, it is slow growing, making it an ideal choice for those who prefer compact forms in their plants. Because of its interesting foliage structure, I would recommend it to liven up a collection of common houseplants or as an addition to a succulent garden.
