Did you know?

The leaves look like pieces of sea coral. The name corallina refers to this appearance.

Crassula corallina, also known as Crassula corallina subsp. corallina, Crassula dasyphylla or Crassula simiana, is a small and delicate succulent with unique miniature detail. The name "corallina" refers to the leaves, which look just like pieces of coral.

The leaves are warty, green to grey-brown with a white waxy covering on top and dotted with dark green dots. They grow several millimetres long, longer rather than broader, elliptic to elliptic, convex, obtuse at the apex and blunt at the ends or with just a hint of a point. Crassula corallina has a ground and semi-erect growth, growing to a maximum height of 8 cm.

The flowers are small and cup-shaped and cream in colour. They appear on the tops of the stems in summer and autumn.

The whole plant looks delicate and fragile, like a dense line of tiny milk-coloured corals. It is not so attractive in winter as it can drag in the light, but the unsightly shoots that form can be removed. Throughout the year its appearance changes and it becomes a unique jewel. It grows more slowly and is one of the smallest succulents.
