This plant prefers partial shade, but can tolerate sunny sites.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It can tolerate temperatures down to -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

Did you know?

Due to the partial loss of chlorophyll, we find multiple colours on the variegated leaves.

Crassula arborescens ssp. undulatifolia variegata, also known as Ripple Jade plant, is a similar form of plant native to the southern part of the Klein Winterhoek Mountains in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa. Its subspecies name undulatifolia means undulating leaves.

It attracts attention because of its blue-grey leaves with cream tints and burgundy edges. They grow arranged in opposite pairs, wavy and slightly fleshy. The shrub has sturdy and fleshy stems and reaches a height of up to 40 cm.

The white to pink flowers of this plant are star-shaped and appear in compact, rounded clusters from spring to mid-summer. Compared to the classic form, however, flowering is considerably rarer.

The plant can be lightly fertilised. When exposed to full sun, care should be taken to avoid leaf burn from the first spring sun. The sharp contrast of the soft greenish and red leaf margins stands out vividly and makes for an interesting spectacle.
