Crassula arborescens ssp. undulatifolia
The plant likes sunny habitat and partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The name of the subspecies 'undulatifolia' translates as undulating leaves. It refers to the tendency of the leaves to curl.
Crassula arborescens ssp. undulatifolia, also known as Ripple Jade plant, is native to the southern part of the Klein Winterhoek Mountains in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa. Its subspecies name undulatifolia means undulating leaves.
It attracts attention because of its blue-grey leaves with dark green dots and purple margins. They grow in opposite pairs, wavy and slightly fleshy. The shrub has stout and fleshy stems and reaches a height of up to 40 cm.
The white to pink flowers of this fat plant are star-shaped and appear in compact, rounded clusters from spring to mid-summer.
The plant can be lightly fertilised, which gives it faster and sturdier growth. It makes an unusual addition to houseplants, among which it stands out with its undulating leaves.
