A sunny habitat or partial shade is ideal.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering. Water more frequently and in smaller quantities than other species.

Can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

It is a very attractive plant, which is popular for its colouring of the leaves and especially for its beautiful, distinctive red-orange flowers.

Cotyledon orbiculata Oophylla, also known as Lady Fingers or Cotyledon Boegoeberg, is a cultivar of the succulent plant Cotyledon orbiculata native to the Richtersveld and adjacent coastal areas in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa and the Sperrgebiet in southwestern Namibia.

The thick leaves of this cultivar are covered with a thick layer of wax, giving them a greyish colour with a green base. The edges of the leaves are edged in burgundy. The colour of the leaves varies throughout the season depending on the amount and intensity of sunlight, but above all on the difference between day and night temperatures. The thick leaves serve as a water reservoir, which allows the plant to survive even in times of drought.

This Cotyledon grows up to 15 cm tall and forms branched stems. In mid-summer to winter, tall flower stalks with clusters of pretty orange-red flowers tower above the plant. The tubular flowers have curved petals and are about 2 cm long. The flowers are usually very distinctive and add to the attractiveness of the plant.

Cotyledon orbiculata Oophylla is ornamental in both flower and foliage. Especially during the flowering period, when the plant literally shines among other pieces in succulent collections.
