Cotyledon orbiculata
Place ideally in a sunny location, but can be placed in partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
A whitish waxy coating covers the leaves of the succulent, protecting the plant from the sun's rays and the evaporation of life-giving water.
Cotyledon orbiculata, but probably Cotyledon orbiculata var. oblonga, possibly also Cotyledon orbiculata var. orbiculata, is a succulent plant with whitish leaves that are characterized by considerable variability. Sometimes a slight curling of the leaf tips can be observed, making this plant similar to Cotyledon undulata.
This succulent impresses with its white and large leaves with a waxy coating on the surface. The fleshy, rounded leaves are also unexpectedly large. Their shape is variable and can vary not only depending on the growing conditions. Leaf drop is a natural phenomenon and need not be feared. Cotyledon orbiculata has sturdy woody stems and grows up to 60 cm tall as a shrub.
In summer, stems with orange, bell-shaped flowers tower above the leaves, giving the plant even more appeal.
Cotyledon orbiculata grows quite quickly and I do not recommend fertilizing it. Unwanted winter growth that does not look nice can be cut back. The plant will regrow at the cut point. It is primarily grown for its ornamental whitish foliage and by placing it in your home you will bring a little of the exoticism of South Africa into your home.
