The full name Ceropegia linearis ssp. woodii String of Arrows, also known as candlestick is a fascinating succulent liana. It is a form of Ceropegia woodii, but with slightly different leaves. It is named String of Arrows because of its arrowhead-like shape.
The colour of the leaves is usually dark green with a tinge of red, but can vary depending on the light. It is not only the shade that changes, but especially the patterning. This is silver in colour and can be found on the upper side of the leaf. Underneath, they take on a purple to red hue. The leaves are arrow-shaped and fleshy. The succulent has a liana-like growth habit and its thin, creeping shoots grow from distinctive tubers. Old tubers can reach up to 5 cm in diameter. The young tubers resemble the underground ones and occasionally grow on stems. The length of the lianas is not completely limited and can reach up to 4 metres. If necessary, the lianas can be shortened by trimming.
It flowers profusely mainly in summer, but can also flower all year round. The flowers are small but distinctive and resemble candlesticks. They bloom in large numbers and sometimes develop long seedlings.
Ceropegia woodii String of Arrows is a very hardy plant. It can tolerate low watering and lower light conditions, but has problems with prolonged cold. It can be lightly fertilised. Trimmed lianas can be grown in a jar of water to allow them to root. There are many different types of candle holders in our shop and you can't go wrong with any of them. So you can choose which one you like best.
