Did you know?

The marbled patterning on the leaves gives the houseplant the nickname Marbled Aeschynanthus.

Aeschynanthus marmoratus is an epiphytic plant - it grows on trees. It is native to Southeast Asia, where it grows in the wild in the Philippines and Indonesia. It is sometimes referred to as Aeschynanthus marbleatus after the patterns on its leaves.

The green leaves are decorated with beautiful veining. On the upper side of the leaf, light green veins run through the dark green and dark purple patterning appears on the underside. Fine hairs cover the elongated, oval leaves.

Red, orange or yellow flowers may appear on the houseplant. Apart from the marbled leaf patterns, the tubular flowers are not as pronounced as in other species, but still add to the plant's appearance.

The houseplant likes a light fertiliser and can be watered. It is advisable to repot the plant in a larger pot to give it room to grow. The houseplant catches the eye at first sight with its unusual and very contrasting marble-like patterning. The difference between the upper and lower side of the leaf is also an advantage.
