A habitat with moderately diffused light is best suited to the houseplant.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

Room temperature is ideal. The plant is not cold hardy.

TIP for you:

The leaves take on a whitish tinge and also develop a nice purple shade in the sun. Older and sun-grown plants look very different from young plants, and become highly collectible.

Aeschynanthus lobbianus var. variegata is a variegated form of the plant native to the Philippines. It is perfect for growing in hanging pots and its scarlet stems wind beautifully over the edge to form pretty curtains.

The new leaves turn a light green, later darkening. Over time the elongated oval leaves take on a subtle whitish tinge and if the plant is placed in full sun, another shade of purple appears. The stems are creeping, liana-like and aesthetically droop when given the chance.

Red flowers appear on the plant, which turn deep red.

The colouring and pattern is best in sunlight. The succulent can be lightly fertilized at your discretion. Over time the plant grows into a truly impressive piece, especially when grown in hanging containers. The overhanging stems beautifully decorate their surroundings and the collectible, foliate plant brightens up its surroundings with up to three colours of patterns.
