Aeschynanthus Bolero Bicolore
A habitat with moderately diffused light is best suited to the houseplant.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
Room temperature is ideal. The plant is not cold hardy.
The beautiful flowers are a deep red colour and the plant is sometimes called the lip plant because of its shape.
Aeschynanthus Bolero Bicolore is often associated with red lips, which its flowers resemble very much.
Due to its size, it has relatively small, dense leaves that reach up to 2.5 cm in length. With their green centre and cream-like banding around the edge of the leaves, they are colourfully distinct from the purplish stems, which are liana-like and can droop. Slight hairs cover both leaves and stems.
The flowers are deep red in colour and grow from a purple-red stalk. If they flower, they give the plant a contrasting play of colour.
The succulent suits moderate fertilisation and watering. The houseplant can be beautifully grown as an overhanging plant in hanging containers. Its smaller, variegated foliage will also please the beginner grower, for whom this plant is also suitable due to its undemanding nature. Over time, the dense overhanging plant will become a dominant feature in the room or office.
