Aeonium haworthii
A sunny habitat is ideal for the plant, but it can also be placed in partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
Typical Aeonium with finely toothed and coloured leaf margins. Suitable for beginners and with shaping options for the more experienced grower.
Aeonium haworthii is native to the Canary Islands, specifically to the north of Tenerife from the Anaga and Teno massifs, where it grows at altitudes up to 1,000 m above sea level.
This Aeonium has deep green leaves with margins coloured in all shades of red and purple. The leaves are finely toothed around the periphery. Old leaves dry naturally and the plant quickly forms a stem. The rosettes are strong and the plant has a shallow root system. The thin stems are woody and the shrubs grow up to 60 cm tall.
Aeonium haworthii's pale yellow to off-white flowers, sometimes tinged with pink, appear in late spring in lax hemispherical racemes with terminal inflorescences. However, flowering is quite rare and the plant is monocarpic.
This houseplant is easy to grow. If desired, it can be shaped by cutting and its beauty lies in its typical succulent rosettes. The coloured edges then enhance the serrated leaves, making it an attractive succulent plant.
