Did you know?

The epithet "festivus" translates as "joyful". The plant is also called Plover Eggs Plant because of its egg-shaped leaves.

Adromischus festivus is a small succulent native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It gets its name "Plover Eggs Plant" because of the unusual appearance of the leaves, which resemble bird's eggs with dark spots. The name 'festivus' means 'joyful' or 'merry' in Latin, and this plant will no doubt bring joy to its surroundings with its beautiful and unusual colours. It is one of the countless types of Adromischus cooperi.

This small plant grows up to 10 cm tall and has grey oval leaves with dark purple spots at the top. The leaves, which are rounded in cross-section, taper towards the end and are more or less wavy. They are only connected to the thick ground stem by a narrow part which resembles a short stalk.

The plant is floriferous, although its flowers are not very showy. They are small and red in colour and grow on a tall stalk.

It is a small succulent that is best suited to a windowsill and is best suited to southern windows. The speckled appearance will add another dimension of uniqueness to your collection.
