The genus Cissus includes about 350 species of plants belonging to the grape family (Vitaceae). These plants are predominantly vines or climbing shrubs found in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. The leaves are alternate, simple or compound, often with prominent venation. The flowers are small, inconspicuous, and grouped in inflorescences. The fruits are berries containing one to several seeds.
